My Not So Very Exciting Break Michaela Gee
This past week and a half over winter break I can’t say that I was doing a lot of crazy things, which I’m perfectly fine with. But I will say that I did do something that was quite fun and definitely worth my time. Every Monday and Wednesday after school I pick up two twin girls that are in kindergarten from Our Lady of Grace. I take them home and we have a snack and play together until their parents arrive home from work. They also ask me to babysit a lot on the weekends when they go out. On the first day of break, which was a Thursday I went to their house at 8 o’clock in the morning. This is about four hours before my normal wake up time so this took a lot of effort on my part. But it would all be worth it in the end. I hung out with them all day long. We went to Subway for lunch. We watched two movies. We played with their new birthday toys. And most importantly we had a lot of fun! What I haven’t mentioned yet is why this is all so great, aside from the fact that I love to hang with the girls. Their parents pay me a lot of money to babysit for them. I will drop any plans I have, even if it’s with my best friends and babysit the two twin girls. So like a mentioned before, I got there at 8 am. And what I haven’t mentioned yet is how late I stayed. I stayed at their house until 1 am the following day. Yes, this means I was there for 17 hours! Almost a full day. Like I said, they pay extremely well. So as my luck would have it, I raked in a whopping 300 dollars in just one day! I knew they were going to pay me well but I did no know it would be that well. Although, it is a lot of work its well worth the money.
As I tell you more about my vacation nothing too exciting pops out at me. Other than the fact that maybe I spent a lot of time in my room hanging out and watching TV. I think school was really getting the best of me. This break was definitely a much-needed one. I was able to finish the sixth and seventh season of Grey’s Anatomy, which is pretty much the best show ever. The best part is, I’m all caught up which means that I can now watch it on TV the same time that everyone else watches it. My dad made fun of me everyday that I spent laying around and being lazy but I did not care on bit because I knew I had to enjoy the time while I had it. Break ended before I knew it and so did my days of relaxation. Now I have to wait three more months for spring break. How sad is that?! Except for the fact that I don’t even know where I am going yet but I do know that I will be going somewhere totally awesome. And I might even get to go somewhere with my boyfriend and his family.
I almost forgot! My boyfriend came home for Christmas Break. He is currently living in New York teaching at a school in the South Bronx through a program called City Year. It was great to see him although I have seen him twice before that since he first left! We didn’t really do anything big. We went out to eat a lot which is nice because I love a good meal. We also went to a couple of parties and saw a lot of our old friends. He left yesterday which is always sad but I will see him again in a month so I don’t mind so much.
Over break I did a lot of shopping! Yahoo. I love to shop. A lot of the gifts I got for Christmas were clothes too which is great because my wardrobe definitely needed an update. And when I got shopping I always go with my mom which is a plus so I can spend time with her. I kind of wish that I would have been at Mall of America when that whole fiasco went down. I saw some crazy videos on Facebook and youtube.
Of course, how could I talk about winter break and not talk about my Christmas. My brother is a sophomore in college and he was able to come home for the break and is still home right now which is very nice but also very hectic. On Christmas eve my family ate King Crab and Salmon. It was so yummy. Although it didn’t really go over well with my brother. He loved the crab so he was eating a ton of it. Within moments he began to feel extremely sick. He went downstairs after dinner and came back up announcing that he had just thrown up. Ew. We were supposed to go to our friends house that night but were no longer able to because of my brother. So instead that night me, my mom, and my dad went and drove around to look at really cool houses that go all out with their Christmas lights. The next morning my brother woke up covered in hives! And I woke up on Christmas morning feeling sick too. My mom and dad think that my brother and I had an allergic reaction to the fish. They didn’t have any reactions at all so we know it wasn’t bad meat. I hope I’m not allergic because I love fish and I don’t know what I would do if someone told me I couldn’t eat it anymore. The more I write about my break the more I realize it was actually pretty exciting. There’s never a dull moment in my life even when I’m being lazy and watching Grey’s Anatomy.
